FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How can I order products from Beading the Odds?
Please contact us by sending us an email so that we can set up a virtual meeting to start this process. If you have specific ideas that you would like to share, please include these in your mail. We’d love to engage with you.
Where is your factory?
Beading the Odds has a decentralised production model.
Production happens in the shelters or even that homes of survivors – so no factory. We train master producers at our office in Pretoria and they train others in their group. We have women trained in fine beading that produce products that required higher skills levels such as flat panels and Christmas balls.
What is your turn around time?
The turn around time depends on the size of the order and complexity of work. As a guideline, we produce between 20 000 and 40 000 products per month for our largest client.
What are the shipping options?
We deliver in Gauteng and send by courier to the rest of the country. We are a registered exporter and AGOA registered for the benefit of international customers.
Can I join the production team?
Beading the Odds is a social enterprise that benefit survivors of domestic violence. It provides a way for these resilient women to earn an income while rebuilding their lives. We currently have production groups in Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, Eastern Cape and the Western Cape.
As much as we would like to help the thousands of women affected by Gender Based Violence, with current resources, we can help 100 women earn a regular income. We have a waiting list of women waiting for a spot in our team. We hesitate to take on more producers before we know that we can sustain them.
Can you help someone find place in a shelter?
Our partnership with shelters relates only to helping survivors generate an income. We do not get involved in the shelters’ processes in any other way. For this reason, we are unable to facilitate access to shelters. An appropriate resource is the National Shelter Movement of South Africa.https://www.nsmsa.org.za/
